As you can see from the inside, the AVO 8 MK2 is a very delicate and complicated piece of electronic measuring instrument. When opening the back cover, the first thing you might notice is the smell of the conventional components, solder, copper, and ceramic based resistors. If you were a Radio Engineer, then you may recognise it, as it is the same found in valve radios and amplifiers. This is a small piece of British history, and as such, must be respected and treated with due care and attention. The proper and professional way to clean this meter is with a good quality electrical contact cleaner. Avoid using water or any kind of salt-based cleaners, as it will damage the coils.
